Patient M is inspired by a true story that occurred in 1938. A Republican soldier was shot in the head. The bullet lodged in his brain and from then on, under certain conditions, when he was at rest and without great stimuli, he faced a terrifying upside-down world, in which objects also appeared in triplicate, dyed green and with the colors detached. Not only was his visual perception inverted, but also his auditory and tactile perception, with sounds and caresses appearing in his mind on the opposite side to the real one. “M looked at the pocket watch in any direction to know the time”.
This fact inspired Doctor Justo Gonzalo's theory on the functioning of the human brain. Patient M survived and continued to see the Doctor until his death in 1986. M died in the early 1990s, the identity of the man who helped illuminate the workings of the human brain never being revealed.
lyrics
Half pain My head, from which the plaster breaks
away like flesh from the rough bone
Something has changed, not sure what´s going on
it´s all just looking upside down, it´s all just turning upside down
But it looks great,
for some reason the world feels now like a much better place
feels now like a much better place
what was blue is now red, the tap is pouring waves of flames,
the trees are singing to the birds and it all makes sense!
Something has changed, pieces to rearrange
but truth being told, i feel more than well
no more empty words, no more empty stares
i need to shout and tell them all
that i´m the one who rules the world
please dont be scared
someone just shot me in the head, and i´m alive and doing great
so please don´t go, what can go wrong?
You need to know i´m Patient M
nothing to do with your old friend
and it´s all sound!
Im seeing life as if through coloured eyes
shapes are shifting 9 is 6 and 6 is 9
i hope this never changes cause it seems just right
for the first time ever i feel at rest with mankind
It seems so far away when every single thing worried me
my soul has reached whole freedom and i feel now at ease
i know it sounds absurd but if i had to go back in time
id beg for you to shoot me and make my life again damn fine
